How can I speed up the healing of scabs?
I have read somewhere that Zinc Picolinate helps with healing scabs faster. Has anyone heard this? If so do you know how much to take? Does anyone know what does help heal scabs fast, like within a few days to a week?

You cannot speed up the healing of scabs. When a wound is created, the body secretes a fluid called serum in an attempt to protect and cover the wound as well as having a leakage of blood. These combine to create what we call are scabs. In fact these actually slow down the healing of wounds as if you remember that wounds heal by filling themselves in fromt he bottom with healthy new capillaries (called granulation tissue) and also by having the elastic edges pull themselves together, then having a scab (think large rock) int he middle of the wound will prevent both processes from happening, thus slowing down healing. That is why wounds should be covered and not exposed to the air for any length of time. Scabs will adhere until there is healing of the wound below it and then the new epithelium (skin) will just push the scab off. This process can take about 7 to 10 days depending ont he size and area it is located.
